The Bible says that in the beginning we were created by God in perfect relationship, Truly Free.

The first picture of freedom it presents to us is Adam and Eve walking through the Garden chatting to each other and God. Perhaps the Australian version would have them walking hand in hand on a white sand beach.

The world was made for us to enjoy. We were made to live in fellowship with God, dependent on His love and protection.

Does that sound like freedom?

The paradox of freedom is that it's not experienced until I'm willing to submit myself to God's protection and love (rather than my own control and independence). Freedom comes as I submit to the makers' guidelines.

Adam and Eve along with each of us have turned away from God by suggesting that we can better look after our own needs. It's like saying "thanks but no thanks" to God.

Many of the problems we experience when we follow our own desires is expressed in this Bible verse.

Galations Chapter 5 Verse 19-21

These behaviours and the pain they represent are actually the fruit of sin. The actual 'SIN' we all suffer from is our failure to believe, know and have faith in God's protection and love.

We all suffer from this lack of faith.

The Bible puts it in clear language "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no-one who seeks God. All have turned away."
